Gulf unveils new blending plant in China

Gulf inaugurated its newest lubricants blending plant on November 2nd 2006. This achievement is a major milestone for the Gulf Oil International group and its successful completion is a tribute to the huge effort of the Gulf Oil Yantai team led by Managing Director, Mr. TV Joseph.

The new blending plant, owned and operated by Gulf Oil Yantai, was constructed within budget and opened right on schedule. The inauguration ceremony was conducted in great style. Present were dignitaries from Yantai (a large city on the northern coast of Shandong province), the Yantai Economic and Technological Development Area (YEDA) and guests that represented over 70 lubricant distributors. The guest of honour was Mr. Wang Xiu Chen - standing member of the Yantai committee of CPC and Chairman of the Administrative committee of YEDA of China. Gulf was well represented with international guests representing the shareholders, Gulf Oil International and licensees. Mr. TV Joseph, having overseen the completion of the construction ensured the inauguration was carried out professionally.

All the visitors received a good overview of the capabilities of the plant and Gulf Oil Yantai itself. A guided tour of the plant was organised. All the speakers had high praise for Gulf Oil International and promised their support and cooperation for the future growth of the company in China. There was a large media presence that captured all the stages of the inauguration.

A tree planting ceremony was held prior to the inauguration to mark the occasssion.

With the commissioning of this new plant, Gulfs capability to supply high quality lubricants at a competitive price to the markets it serves has been greatly enhanced. With a sound quality management system in place, Gulf customers are assured about the quality of Gulf products, where ever bought regardless of their original place of manufacture.

Gulf Oil International is rapidly growing as a significant market share player in the world's lubricants business with marketing operations in over 70 countries, and good prospects for further growth. The inauguration of the new plant in China is a major step forward for Gulf Oil International and has been a particularly successful project for Gulf in Asia.
