A photo of a replica GT40, in Gulf colours, appeared recently in a UK national paper.

Saturday May 30th. I opened one of the UK's leading newspapers to see, on the front page of the Motoring Section, this replica GT40 in Gulf racing livery. The picture featured as the leading example of the article about great cars. The editors evidently chose the famous Gulf-coloured car to highlight the article and to catch the readers' eyes.

The car shown was made by CAV GT (Auto Futura) whuich is owned and run by a group of real motorsport enthusiasts. They have a small manufacturing unit in Cape Town where they make a high quality replica GT40. Most of their cars are sold to customers in the USA, though their customer base is spread all arond the world. As well as the road-worthy (and road-legal) replica GT40, they also make a variant suitable for racing.

In 2007 CAV GT became the only manufacturer of replica GT40s to have a license to use the Gulf racing colours. The car pictured below has been prepared for display at this year's Le Mans 24h race, where it surely will be a big crowd-pleaser. Also shown is the chassis place where the Gulf license is indicated.
